    Dangerous driving… not smart…
I have a cat that always reaches out to me with her paw…I then pet her and she is happy, take away my hand and she reaches out to me again.
I think if something comes up in a dangerous situation, the man would immediately put his hand on the wheel. Take care…

I was thinking it was a little dangerous to be driving with one hand. Would be interesting to know if they were going to the vet.

Lola, I especially agree with your 2nd paragraph regarding the Sixth Sense. As I watched, I felt that the dog was “sensing” something not “right” in the situation. I also think that it is a dangerous situation for a driver’s “divided” attention.

Too much distraction. Dangerous whilst driving. Leave him/her home.Or put dog in back seat with a car halter on.
Many dogs offer their paws it is just a natural trait in the dog. My
Ridgeback/cross has done it since a puppy, now we have turned it into High 5.
In kitchen she will also do it in a beg fashion because she wants some food.

I’m with Lola, I think it’s car sickness cause recently I got car sick and that was the way I acted in the car, yawning(not taking the guy’s hand-he would have kicked me out of the car).

My dog has times he needs to hold hands/paws,too. In humans I would think it means reassurance. Same in dogs?

Good thought there, too. Maybe she wants me to keep petting her. Guess my sister’s pom does something like the paw but with her head and it’s to pet her.

Well, it could mean several things (being a trainer), either the dog in the car isn’t getting enough air, and needs the window open…maybe getting car sick from seeing things move. He/she may need to go to the bathroom, I have two lab/chow/miniature collies that even though I make sure they go to the bathroom before we get into the car, we only go a short distance, and we have to stop the car, and they both have to go again…nerves I guess. Also fear of a moving vehicle, like people have a fear of flying. And last but not least the fear of going to the vets. They have a sense of the road to the vets, and this could also be the cause of the problem.

Also, some animals have a fear of fire. Like horses for instance. They get spooked by the flames, whether its the heat or whatever, they have a sixth sense of danger. Animals have a sixth sense of any type of danger, they are known to save their master’s lives at times, do you ever notice if you’re sick, in an accident, etc., they never leave your side? These are just a few examples. The dog in the video was whining, my guess is, may have had to go to the bathroom, or knew it was going to the vets. Then again, some animals just don’t like to travel, and there are some that don’t. I hope that I was of some assistance to some questions about the animals.

Thanks for responding. It may just be a nervous tick she has, too. She does it when I brush her and she loves being brushed especially this time of the year (spring). I do own her brother and those two are in competion with each other for affection like when I brush them. It’s crazy. The brother doesn’t do the paw thing though.

I have a Norwegian Elkhound that is doing the same thing and it isn’t inside a vehicle either. If you are sitting at a picnic table or around the firepit she has need of having her paw held. Does anyone know what this body language from a dog means?
