March about. 10 years ago, my adult son and I went from California to Virginia on the Zephyr return on the Empire Builder, we had a heat wave and it was 75 degrees in Helena Montana, needless to. Say I was so disappointed in not seeing the train plows at work. Thanks to the photographer for this video.

My Dad was an engineer with the Milwaukee Railroad and operated snowplows thru the
Cascade Mountains. I now have a greater appreciation for what he had to do for his job.

Amazing shots of powerful engines clearing snow. Very thrilling to watch. How does the engine driver manage to see where he’s going ?

We had steamers and plows in Southern Idaho as a kid. Also saw a rotary twice after very heavy snow. Trains are … beautiful to watch, especially the old steamers.

Not bad Tom. I worked for the New York Central after I returned from the U S Army. I enjoyed it for awhile until I decided I liked trucking better. Take care. Dean D
