After we no longer had ‘Johnny Carson’ on late night TV, and he’s always been my favorite, along came late night with David Letterman, and he became my 2nd favorite!…I remember this segment about The Lone Ranger, and I still laugh at the actual story and Jay’s great way of presenting it!
‘Herbed-up and Stoned’ !!…you gotta laugh at that! Thanks for posting this again in 2022.

Jay was appearing on “Murphy Brown” at the time and we’d meet at a public golf course in Oxnard just north of the San Fernando Valley in the Los Angeles area. At the time he and his wife were living in Santa Barbara so it was a great time to “hit the links” and relax. It was there he told me this story while I attempted to get us from hole to hole in our rented golf cart. I cannot recall when I laughed so hard forced to stop the cart and just howl at his every word. Jay was a great talent, but more importantly, he was a great guy, a good buddy, and the most enjoyable person to be with. Jay had so much to offer and then we lost him some years later – one of life’s many tragedies. I love hearing this story; taking the smile off my face is nearly impossible each time I hear Jay’s voice and having the opportunity to be in his presence and being his buddy. We miss you, Jay.
