Chows have a shorter bridge than the dog pictured. Can’t see the tail which, in chows, curl up over the back.

That’s a nice memory, Joyce. I don’t have such lovely memories of the chow from my childhood. That dog terrified the neighborhood, especially me!

THIS DOG LOOKS A LOT LIKE OUR BIG BLACK CHOW (FULL “BLOODIED” BLACK TONGUE)NAMED “CUBBY”. HE WAS 19 YEARS OLD WHEN HE DIED. (51 YEARS AGO) MY HUSBAND HAD HAD HIM SINCE MY WAS HUSBAND WAS 4 YEARS OLD AND “CUBBY” WAS 4 MONTHS OLD. I KNEW CUBBY FOR ONLY 2 YEARS BUT LOVED HIM DEARLY. HE WAS A BIG, GENTLE GIANT OF A DOG BUT A BIG FURRY BALL OF LOVE. THIS DOG IS PROBABLY HALF-CHOW FROM THE LOOKS OF THE FACE AND SIZE.

I agree with Ruby, that he looks like a bear & not a chow. It is a Newfoundland dog. They are usually black or white. Never seen a brown one until now. I love the picture!

Chows have black tongues and aren’t this big.

it’s a chowchow dog, big breed but they r quiet & behaved. juz scary-looking. d owner must see to it that’s not a heavy load, it’s juz a dog, not a horse, donkey, or whatever… that’s big enough to carry loads.
