Maybe the injuries were in response to your vanity.

I started to play the violin at the age of 7 years. My parents had me practice in the basement. By age 9 I was allowed to practice in the living room. I was First Chair in ninth grade. Then I discovered boys and they discovered me. I turned out to be beautiful and the power and fun that yielded took me away from my instrument. To this day it is one of my biggest regrets. My parents placed more value on my physical beauty than on my talents. My parents wanted me to be a model but I chose to become a registered nurse and excelled in my profession. I should have chosen to be both a violinist and a model but I was young and fought my battles as best I could. I really don’t know if I won or lost. I injured my left arm and have no rotator cuff in that arm. I also have partial use of the rotator cuff in my right arm. There’s a message there surely.
