This was shown on the second part of the Today show. It was special effects because the dad works for DreamWorks pictures,

with camera technology now days, it easy for them to do. they probably capture the kid jumping up and down and blended together two scenes where he is in air jumping, and one with him coming down. They probably blended the down part with a special effect, that made the splash. The splash would also have a wider radius going up in the air, because when jumping flat footed into a pool the splash is much more, and I’m sure the kid was jumping flat footed when landing.

I agree that this is a camera trick. The video continues for a few seconds after the child so rapidly disappears & no sounds from the Dad. Come on, think about it!

this had to be a camera trick, because the kid fell in too fast
