What it looks like to me, is that when the tree was alot younger, there were bricks that were placed right up to the trunk, and as the baby roots started to grow, they followed the cracks between the bricks, until they got so thick they displaced the bricks, keeping the designs and shapes. Nature amazes me! Very cool photo!

I put this on fb. There are some of us who like diff. trees like this. If I knew how, I’d make some into larger prints for my walls.
