A great video for folks who grew up with model railroads. I got my first when I was seven, a Lionel Burlington diesel engine with 10 freight cars including a barrel loader and a box car with a guy on top that ducked when it went into a tunnel. Never much enjoyed the freight train action, so the next year, my little brother got HIS train, a steam engine that puffed smoke when you put a little pilll down the smokestack, and he got my freight cars plus some new ones. I got the passenger cars I wanted because I liked to run it at night so I could see the profiles of passengers in the lit window. I also enjoyed building the little town using my Dinky toy cars..

    To Frank P
Do you remember when gum had a decorative paper cover over the aluminum cover on each piece in the package?
We girls used to take the paper cover, fold it up and make a chain that was supposedly as long as our
boyfriend was tall. That went along with wearing his Pendalton (sp). Heppy memories!!!

This brings back many wonderful memories. People didn’t have as much but I think we were much happier then. Merry Christmas!?? ??

I wish there was an actual video ( ???) of the tinsel causing sparks on the train rails! Anyone remember setting the “tension” of the train?
What was that “tinsel”? Aluminum foil, “tin” foil” whatever?
Please……! Beam me back to those innocent days of my youth!
As I vaguely recall the “tin” foil came from chewing gum wrappers??
And while we’re at it, anyone recall the “original” “Black Jack” gum?
I think it was the stuff that oozed out between the tar between the sidewalks!

Just make sure you’re home before the streetlights come on! Sigh!

I will never forget those days. I loved my electric train running around the Christmas tree. Kids today don’t know what they are missing.

The world and the children were happier back then. I loved my Lionel train set. I would give anything to be able to go back in time to relive those days. Life was good. People were still friendly to each other.
