Well. sort of. I’m actually too old to be a boomer. The gist of this is right but I was only ever spanked once in my life, by my mom. Once was enough. The simple thing was people my age believed in right and wrong and the golden rule. I never cursed in front of my mom until I heard her do it once. I was 24. I had a conscience and was taught to have good sense. I was taught stupid is something to avoid. Still, I wasn’t afraid of stuff I knew about. I lived before most vaccines. I still remember the day I got my polio shot. We all did, in third period in my third grade class. We all had dead friends to say no was stupid. However, I did have hard (German) measles three times, three day measles often, chicken pox, mumps (for six weeks), whooping cough, and pneumonia six times. No vaccines for any of these in my day. Measles can blind you, mumps can make men sterile. For four weeks with that one I literally lived on powdered sugar donuts and apple juice. I was allergic to milk. When my dad got his first job, we had no car for four years and no phone (unavailable). By 1952 we did have a TV and I got to watch the first international program sent on the only undersea cable. It was the live coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. And now those silly pants. That looks and is stupid. I love to watch TV cops chase those guys and make them fall down with their pants around their knees while they get cuffed and chewed by the dog. Stupid is generally hilarious
