I looked it up. The red ones as in the photo are most common in Great Britain and other parts of Europe and Asia. No wonder I’ve never seen them. They sure are pretty. We have the little red squirrels known here as Pine Squirrels. They are pests. We mostly have Grey squirrels, with a few black ones and the red fox squirrel. Also, in some places nearby around certain lakes, families of pure white squirrels.
We have only grey squirrels – one without its tail which looks like a wee bunny hopping across the lawn for the peanut we put out for them.
I balance the peanuts on treelimbs, under plants, and scatter across the grass just to watch them hunt, find, and/or eat/ bury them. After a recent rain storm they found many peanuts they had “buried for safe keeping” in the snow.

Judging by their ears as well as well as by their colors I’m guessing these critters reside with our neighbors to the north

Where are these critters. We have three huge oak trees in the front yard and not one squirrel. Where is the balance??????
