Picking Up Grandma
When I stopped the bus to pick up Chris for preschool, I noticed an older woman hugging him as he left the house.
“Is that your grandmother?” I asked.
“Yes, “Chris said. “She’s come to visit us for Christmas.”
“How nice,” I said. “Where does she live?”
“At the airport,” Chris replied. “Whenever we want her, we just go out there and get her.”

The child was not stupid (he could be as young as three (3)), however
your comment was. When you don’t know, or aren’t familiar, with a
subject, i.e. small children, best to keep your mouth shut and be thought
a fool than to open your mouth and prove it.

I was a little kid once. This is something I might have said. Little children pre-school age don’t understand everything they see. When I was 4 and 5, I thought little people lived inside the family radio! Also, I thought cats were girls and dogs were boys!! Not everyone is born smart, ha, ha. If we had to go to the airport to pick up Grandma, I might have thought she lived there too.

The kid is in PRESCHOOL! That means he is about 4 or 5 yrs old. When he sees his Grandma it is when they pick her up from the airport because she lives far away so think about it. Can you kind of understand why he would think she lived there? It may not be funny but it is not stupid. You must not have any children.
