Nice explanation, mrshowcan, but you miss the point. The sweet thing has obviously mixed her metaphors. Being called a dumb blond gets on her nerves and is a pet peeve not to mention that she can’t spell.
@Ahjoe: a pet peeve is a thing either said or a particular action that upsets you; like running fingernails across a black board could be considered a pet peeve and if someone knew it iritated you, they would constantly do it for that purpose, to iritate you. Or repeated saying something to iritate you. In the example above, someone knows the girl is teed off that she is called a dumb blond so they keep calling her that to get a rise out of her. They would stop if she showed it no longer phased her.
