What a joyful and wonderful thing to see. Who says we all can’t get along and help each other out.

Many years ago in my youth (I’m now 75) my aunt Rose found a wounded Robin in our Chicago back yard. Feeding it bread and I took over. I hunted night crawlers and bugs to feed my new friend. For days it stayed on my shoulder making me feel like a pirate with a robin instead of a parrot. People marveled at me and my new found pet as we rode on my bike! Then all of a sudden about a week later the ungrateful bastard flew away!!

This is just a very lovely story. Dogs are the best, and apparently this dog knew how to be gentle even though it had to be so different to survive. The little hummer is a real treasure as is the man who paid attention to what his dog was telling him. I believe that the kindness shown to this hummer is what made it so tame. The ones I’ve seen around my home often try to buzz people away from their feeder as well as each other. Guess it is the survival of the fittest.
I just love this and will sleep so well tonight with that story in my head.

What a kind man and wonderful dog. This is a magical story and a great ending. Hummingbirds are in great danger from environment issues and at least, this one is safe for now. I hope this little thing stays right where it is.
