I loved this story! As I read it, I’m near my dining room window watching a number of birds including over a half dozen Rufous hummies flit from one hummie feeder to another. The past week they’ve been going through about a half gallon every other day of juice ( one to four mix). They seem so happy! We usually start seeing them in late March but this year they were very late – no big numbers until 2 weeks ago.

I love this time of early summer when the Hummingbirds arrive in New Mexico ! I’m also sad when they leave !Thay was a remarkable story — an unlikely friendship story between dog – bird – and man ! Thanks we need inspiring stories in this day and age.

I ENJOYED THE FUN THAT THE MAN HAD WITH HIS HUMMING BIRD ACCEPT I HAD A CANARY THAT WOULD CHASE ME IF I TEASED IT. IT ALSO ENJOYED SHARE MY MOTHER’S TOAST WHILE SHE SAT FOR BREAKFAST. I WOULD PUT A SAUCER OF WATER IN ITS CAGE AND WATCH IT BATH. IT WOULD EAR FROM MY HAND,LAND ON MY HEAD OR SHOULDER.

Man rescues dog. Dog rescues hummer. There’s the lesson y’all. Caring is love and that is what there “is just so little of” as the song goes. People!! Take a lesson and take your chance to change a little piece of the world as this guy did. What a fab story. Wish it happened every hour, everywhere. This story and all the people who commented, are awesome.

A beautiful moving story – my favourite creatures are BIRDS followed by Dogs – they have become good friends and are all contented together with their kind owners – if the bird wants to go back to the freedom of the wilds, it is free to do so, but she is happy in her new environment with her new benefactors and friendly Dog – God bless them!!! – A lesson for mankind having mercy, love and compassion – for all peoples of the world all the suffering, especially in so many war-torn countries with the evil perpetrators – all the innocent children and families fleeing their shattered homes and countries, hoping to find safety and kindness just as the Hummingbird has …… Amen

The rescues of the dog and hummer are both fantastic. The dog was feral! This man is the hero, he paid his “human ness” forward then the dog did his bit rescuing the helpless little bird. That man leaves open the door and window open so little bird can leave when she gets the urge to go!
