I have lived a very similar lifestyle for thirty six years. Yet I am within one mile of a town and give miles of a small size city. I built my home around a five hundred square foot shack, it has grown into a three thousand seven hundred square foot shack. It is my writers retreat in the forest of New Hampshire. My contact with other humans is quite limited, such as a ride greeting to store clerks, a wave now and then to the mail route driver and a very short conversation with a neighbor family. Isolation can be bearable and welcome for many of us, I am sometimes reminded of a commercial that said, “Try it, you’ll like it.” and I’ll bet many would. I do kinda, sorta envy the man having an island though, for me it would be ideal. Good luck to him, I too am eighty years young and would desire my ashes be scattered on the land outside my writers retreat where my many canine and feline companions rest in peace buried by my own hands.

Wow! That was so interesting. I can understand why he is so contented on the island. A lifestyle so peaceful and really beautiful surroundings. Thank you so much for sharing and God Bless. A Very Happy New Year to you, hope it is a good one.
