This is sculpture and painting. Having been an art major and having had a 40-year career in TV and advertising/graphic design, like all “commercial artists”, I have done things that were not pert of the job description. In-studio makeup is another form of painting, where the face is your canvas and makeup is your paint. Coiffing hair is sculpture. I did both as a TV artist. Following all the rules of painting, you can re-contour a person’s face, making it less full, or more oval. You can make eyes appear farther apart or rounder. You can re-contour the nose, making it appear narrower or wider. You can re-contour the face, if needed, emphasizing the cheekbones or the jawline. The girl in this video is a sculptor in an unusual medium…. cake and icing. She definitely knows her medium, her subject matter, and the rules of good painting. As her instructor I give her an A! Or 5-stars! She definitely takes the cake!
