The Granny Who Lives with Two Bears and a Tiger
A 62-YEAR-OLD grandmother shares her life with three unconventional pets – two bears and a tiger. Truck driver Bonnie Hart, from Texas, interacts with her unusual pets for hours every day – cuddling up to them and feeding them treats like cookies, marshmallows and ice cream.

I hope that everyone listens and understands what Granny is saying. She is truly a unique person. The animals know that she is safe to be around and love and adore her. She is their protector. I do feel sorry for the tiger as he needs more room to roam, but on the other hand someone would probably shoot him. We have lived with the bears now for over 19 years. They are wild, and every spring they come back and spend the summer and fall with us. When they have young, they bring them right up to us as if to show them off. We will feed them bits of apples and peanuts from our hands, but we do not go overboard. Our property is adjacent to several hundred acres of bush so there is plenty of room for them to roam and to hunt for berries. It is a real treat to watch momma bear (Bernice) teach her young to become self sufficient and become adults. We have built a pond and several playthings in our back yard for them. We really respect Granny for what she is doing. Thank you so much.
