An elderly woman, walks into the post office clutching a package tightly…
As she steps in, she glances around and sighs deeply, seeing the long line of people ahead of her.
With a huff, she joins the queue, tapping her foot impatiently and glancing at her watch every few minutes…
Finally, after what feels like an eternity to her, she reaches the front of the line.
The friendly clerk behind the counter greets her with a warm smile, “Good afternoon, Ma’am! How can I assist you today?”
The elderly woman places the package on the counter with a loud thud, as if she’s unloading a great burden…
She looks the clerk in the eye and says, “How much will it cost to send this package?”
The clerk, maintaining his friendly demeanor, picks up the package and weighs it…
“Well, Ma’am, we have a couple of options for you. For standard delivery, it’ll be $2.30. If you’d like express delivery, that’ll be $3.95.”
The woman, now visibly more impatient, leans forward and says in a louder voice, “Listen here, young man, I don’t have all day!… “
“Can you just make sure it gets there during my lifetime?!”
The clerk, unfazed, nods understandingly and replies, “In that case, Ma’am… “
“That’ll be $3.95, please.”

As a Postal Service retiree, I wholeheartedly agree. Added should be telling the customer the parcel will not weigh as much upon delivery. Handling is destructive, is it not?
