A new monk moves into a monastery…
On his first day, he is placed in charge of the copying of holy texts.
He notices that all the other monks are not copying the original texts but are copying previous copies.
So, he approaches one of the elder monks and says…
“Do you realize, if there is an error in one of the copies, all of the subsequent copies will contain the same error?”
The elder monk replies, “We have been doing it this way for centuries, but I understand your concern.”
The elder monk heads to the vault to check the main copies against the original texts…
Hours later, he has not returned and they begin to worry.
So, they send a monk to the vault to check on him…
The monk finds him sitting and weeping next to the original texts.
He asks the elder monk, “Whatβs wrong? What did you find?”
The elder monk looks at him with pain in his eyes and says…
“It says, celebrate!”
