Hi it was great time and area to be raised in. Throughly enjoyed it. Forwarded it to some of my friends who also enjoyed it. Thank you for all your support. Don D

Thanks for the memories. Made my end of day mood happier, except for the political comments.

The 50’s were the very best! Too bad the teens of today can’t have even a small taste of growing up back then. I played football (some), baseball and basketball. I was drum major of the H.S. Band and in the Student Council. I met my wife my first year in college and we’ve now been married more than 62 years! I also sang in a Barbershop Quartet which took me around the world later in life during my time in the U. S. Army. Oh, if only we could turn the clock back for just a few laughs and go strolling along as we went to the movies or to church. Life was good and we didn’t have to cope with all the bitterness of the political world today. God Bless America!!!

We grew up in the best era anyone could ever imagine. We didn’t have much but we had a lot. Played stick ball in the street. Competed as to how many sewers you could hit the ball. Playing stoop ball, kick the can, triangle. We invented how to have fun. The good old days are gone forever. We must be the envy of every generation to come.

I’m 85 and remember the 50’s with a smile. Things were much simpler then. Because I am an organized collector I still have some of my school books. I have 45’s and 78’s and a record player. I was at a Beatles
Concert in Vancouver. Also Ella Fitzgerald.

The 50’s were the greatest era for growing up – no drugs around schools- the worst thing was if a girl was caught smoking in the washroom and the older high-school boys were actually given a smoking pit outside. We followed the basketball teams around the Lower Mainland (B.C.) and enjoyed girl friends’ sleep-overs with pillow-fights! The radio programs….Jack Benny, Bob Hope, The Whistler….Lux Radio Theatre….all good. We bought a used B&W TV in 1956 and it was exciting to see Ed Sullivan and Lucille Ball’s programs. Those were the days….lots of outside activities…..sports days….all good! In fact, even now, when I find it hard to sleep, I listen to a CBS Mystery show on my Ipad…..they were so well written with good actors applying their voices.
My big secret is that we were the last family in our town to get an electric fridge…..before that, the ice-man came every Saturday morning, delivering a huge block of ice which took a week to melt….and we had to keep emptying the water!! How’s that for memory? (lol) And I had a huge crush on our very nice milk man. I’m 81 and remember the 50’s very clearly as it was the happiest time of my life.

Bernice, I’m about to turn 80, and I remember the ice man very well! He would throw shards of crystal-clear ice down on the grass for us kids to play with. Do you remember coal being delivered? How it would spark and rattle as it flowed down the coal chute into the coal bin in the cellar?

It was a really great video. I watched though twice and was great to be able to think about what we had back then. If only more people knew how great it was.
