It was the greatest time. So sorry that more generations haven’t had this type of great times.

Yes i loved all of it but should of had Elvis he was the 50’s too. I graduated in 1959 from Glendale High School Glendale Az. The 50’s were a kinder gentler era. Kids today r missing out of those times. Thanks for the memories!!

You are so right, Bee. I met him when he was performing at the Olympia Theater in Miami, Florida in Oct. 1956. My cousin was president of his fan club in Coral Gables, Florida and had talked with Col. Parker on the phone before we went to the theater and he said that he would take us to meet Elvis. When we got there, and saw the Col. in the lobby, my cousin introduced herself to him and asked if we could meet Elvis, and he said no, he was too busy. While standing there, I recognized Red West, Elvis’ cousin, and told him what happened. He said, “Come with me.” and we followed him upstairs and he took us into Elvis’ dressing room and we got to meet him and get his autograph (he signed a whole pad full to give to his fan club.). We gave a teddy bear to him and he hugged it and said, “I will call it Jitney Gene”. That is a day I will never forget.

That is so cool! I was in high school then and my friend had gone to Florida for Christmas vacation. She was so excited to tell us when she got back that she met Elvis in person! She said he was such a gentleman!
