Those were the freedom days and nights. Remember graduating from high school in 1950, the years before then were great, then it was on to college and a continuation of the good times. I feel sorry for the kids today, there’s too many problems they have to face at an early age, seemingly alone.

Thank you so much for sharing this. Yes the 50’s were very special, and this was a special reminder of all the fun we had as kids. I graduated high school in 1959. Then came the 60’s and everything changed.

So lucky to have experienced the “50’s”. Brought tears to my eyes. Loved it. And by the way, speaking of Vick’s salve, I needed it last year. Yes, I had it in the medicine cabinet Took two days before I found out it was 15 years old. Guess what….better than the new one I bought for about 9 times the price paid for the old dated Vicks.

Really the best time. Everything mentioned above…you could spend time with friends until dark and knew it was time to go home. The bad people were locked up. And yay…no tech stuff. We made it this far without it. And. 15 minute tv show…Kukla Fran and Ollie were our teachers..
Glad l can remember every detail from 1950-1958…

Those were the “safe” days and my friends and I would pack a lunch, ride bikes down to the city park and spend the day at the swimming pool until supper time — and nobody had to worry about strangers. If you got caught doing something you shouldn’t, by the time you got home your mother would already know about it. I grew up when after supper the kids living on my street (all ages) would play kick the can, you’re it, etc. until dark and then have to go home. We didn’t know how lucky we were.
Thanks for the memories!
