These are not the photos from some space probe but from Earth. French astronomer Thierry Legault has taken these pics with 356 mm catadioptric telescope and high sensitivity astrophotography camera.
You can also see that the new craters have sharp, distinct edges, but the older ones have apparently been made smoother, over time, probably from high wind or something that softened the rims of those craters. Some of the pix had trails of new craters which looked like they dotted the older craters. Absolutely awesome clarity. I wonder what they would look like in color??? Just beautiful!
