What a beautiful bird. I have heard of them but never seen a picture of one, magnificent. Now I know why the plant, ‘Bird of Paradise’ got it’s name. Thank you so much for sharing.

I just read in the paper that not only is this horrible whetear supposed to continue through mid-September, but that La Nina is supposed to be reforming in the Pacific. That is what was responsible for the terrible drought conditions in the first place! All we can do now is hope for a hurricane or tropical storm to bring us temporary relief! Here in Gnomeville we are situated a bit better than Betsy in Austin. Our rivers are not drying up like hers are. Our big Lake is not as low. We got some good floods last year that helped out. The judge’s springs are still flowing, which is surprising. They are fairly shallow, compared to the ones by my house. So that is good news for our aquifer. But we need rain desperately. This heat dome doesn’t even let clouds form. It is blue sky and white hot sun day after day.

Wow, a amazing looking bird. Did the bird say some bad words?

Anon – Unless it was a you’ve been framed type camrea I don’t think the footage will ever be used…BM – Whatever about baby – they were very happy to leave me in the corner!!Yerrah twas good craic tho – like being at a very repetitive concert with a psycho enthusiastic audience who all happened to be doing the same dance very energetically with scary big grins on everyone’s face, not very often you get to experience that, so altho the ego’s a little bruised – am still glad I gave it a go.

I saw your comic in the book Flight (Paper & String) and it became my ftvaurioe short comic. I was in a similar situation as the girl at the time. I’m sad to see I missed the gallery in fort lauderdale by a few months, I could have taken the train there. although I think you might have stopped posting, I hope you read this, your art is amazing.

Have learned something today. Did not know there was a bird of paradise. Thought it was just the plant. Didn’t understand why they thought it had no legs.
