I am baffled of the breed of this beautiful dog. It’s giant appearance says a type of Mastiff perhaps, but after researching many varieties of Mastiffs, nothing matched up. He/She almost looks like a Gentle Giant Lab, but I’ve never seen or heard of one of this size. I thought possibly New Foundland, but the fur texture was wrong. Great Dane, nope, the face doesn’t match up. Please Please Please…..what is this breed? To Margaret, your on the right track on your question. Large breed dogs are very prone to osteoarthris, arthritis, hip/joint inflamation or a wrong landing on a jump off the porch. Since it’s the ankle is wrapped, I would guess it is binding the bone and muscle and possibly on anti-inflamatories or a vet perscribed medication called Glucosmine/Condroyton (sp?). Now I am NOT a vet, but I am a shelter dog trainer for several years and a student of Dog Psycology. I’ve never been this stumped about a breed. Part of my studies are to identify mixes and what mixes are in a dog. To me, as a non professional, it looks like one heck of a huge black lab ! Absolutely beautiful, healthy looking and very well cared for. What a lucky dog !

Wonder if he hurt that right ankle or if he has joint problems due to
his size.
