I’ll never forget Christmas of 1949…hidden behind the tree, when my brother and I thought we’d opened all our presents, my dad remarked to me that maybe I should check again……..there it was, still in the long, slender box. I became an expert shot with that thing. I was nine years old with miles of prairie for a back yard.
