9-Year-Old Is Best Friends With a Wild Magpie
Meet Pie, a wild magpie who has formed an incredible bond with a 9-year-old child. It all started when Pie was just 6 weeks old and found on the ground, hungry and weak. After being fed mealworms soaked in water, Pie began visiting the child’s house regularly. Pie loves spending time in the sunroom, meditating on one leg for hours.
The two friends share many adventures, from playing together to picking wildflowers and even flower pressing. Pie enjoys grabbing and running away with flowers and napkins, perhaps to build a nest. This unique magpie follows the family around the farm, even when they’re on motorbikes, showcasing their special connection.
Although Pie doesn’t visit as often now, she still shares a special bond with her human friend. Named after the child’s grandma’s pronunciation of magpie with an Italian accent, Pie is a reminder of the beautiful connection between humans and nature.
