lin: I agree with you. The people are walking calmly in the middle and across the street, like there is no cars on the road.

Sure glad I didn’t live back then. Don’t know why people were not run over every 10 minutes.

Cannot believe the turmoil of cars versus trams, people & horse and carts, all cutting in between each other crossing from one side to another with no apparent thought for each other!

Wow! This video is awesome! Traffic looked like utter chaos and very dangerous. I have to admit we’ve come a long way for progress, but there are still people that drive that way and think they own the road. Lol

It’s amazing that in that Free-for-all no one tripped and fell in front of the trolleys, cars and horse carts. The close calls seemed to be an everyday thing to all those people. Think of all the revenue that S.F. would have realized with the jaywalking, wrong way car drivers and cut-offs that happened. Loved it!

I much rather would have enjoyed watching the video of the earthquake and what happened then. I know that sounds callous, but I would find that more interesting then this video. To each his own!

I have seen this video before, sans the sound effects however. There is another video that was made shortly after the earthquake that took you down this exact street and the devastation was beyond belief.

Ali, I know which video you are speaking of that was right after the Great earthquake. As a matter I might have a copy of it. The devastation is horrible.

It is very interesting and one gets to see and hear how it was back over 100 years ago. I see that there were idiots driving back then as well as today. Well, whatever lives the traffic didn’t take I guess the earthquake did.

Where is the traffic lights…at (1:34) it looks like the guy driving targeted hitting the guy walking. Bad driving and people walking in busy traffic. Did the cars have brakes or did they stop the car with their feet???
