These gentle giants have (and use) much bigger brains than humans. We’re the only species that are brutal for no good reason.

I’m surprised they all didn’t get flipped over when the whale jumped up. Can’t make up my mind whether it’s real
    or not, sorry…..

That’s the problem with our media! “Surfer almost swallowed by whale”, shows real intelligence and I mean that sarcastically. We rely on our media for the facts not some hyped up story just to sell news but today it seems we just want the hyped up story not the facts.
The whales were after krill not surfers or kayaks!
If they got hurt with that kind of title people who thought that was the truth because they didn’t know the facts would want to hunt down every last whale so it wouldn’t happen again!
Personally, it should of read, something like, “Wrong place , right time!” and be thankful for the experience!

I would have been more concerned about the tail than being swallowed. Kinda cool actually to be that close.

I agree with you. Do not won’t to get hit by the tail, that is scary to even think about been in the middle of the ocean, seeing a huge whale tail coming at you.

doesn’t look real to me……when did she get in the kayak? Also, the guy doesn’t even look a bit excited!
    Sorry, I don’t buy it.

She never got in the kayak. They were a little too close to the humpback whales territory and they were feeding at the time. Yes, they could of easily been injured by the whales dives…BUT…not swallowed, as I wrote above the why and I would imagine they knew that little fact. When in doubt, globo, google it. Happy reading. 🙂

Had to watch it a couple of times to see because I was asking the same thing but as the whale goes down you see her sliding from the board into the kayak.

I think the whale was added to video, from another ocean scene. The questions make you think, why they did not move from the area quickly.

I did a little research on the video…it dates back to the fall of 2011 and it is real. The girl was never in any real danger of being swallowed, as the humpback whale’s throat is only the size of a grapefruit. The two humpback whales in this video were feeding at the time. The surfer girl and the kayakers were actually getting too close to the whales territory where there is a marine mammal protection act that states no closer than 100 yards. There you have it! 🙂

Wow, I did not know that. Thank you for the research. The size of a whale would make you think, that it could swallow a person easily. I wonder about a shark

    O. M. G. My 1st question is…why are they still sitting there and not rowing to get away and out of the water???!! 2nd question is…same question as same the first to the person filming this??!! Shock is one thing but normally instinct in this type of situation would have kicked in for them to get out of there…
