OH PUHLEASE, IN THIS DAY OF WOMENS LIB, SHE COULD NOT PICK UP HER OWN UMBRELLA? SHE JUST STOOD THERE ACTING SILLY(LIKE, MY HANDS ARE FULL. CAN ANYONE HELP ME) SHE COULD HAVE PICKED IT UP BY THE TIME, THEY BENT OVER TO GET IT..GET A GRIP, LADY!!
Mary, Ruby, and Jean, I think you are all right on the money. When I wrote about the “full-sized” woman, I meant MODEL. That’s why they made such a big deal about her. Since when is size 12 FAT?
I’d bet that if she was heavy and/or wearing jeans, there would be NO rush to pick up anything for her! “Gentlemen” still have fantasies of the “perfect” woman. Sorry if I offended anyone. On tv the other morning “Good Morning, America”, I think, they introduced the FIRST “full-size” woman, and made a HUGE deal about it. This “full-size” woman wears a size 12. I found that disgusting, size 14 or 16, maybe, but 12, as being full-size. What is going on in this world?????? She was perfectly proportioned, and almost 7′ tall, and that’s a large/full size?????? They expect us all to starve ourselves to be “in”. Heaven help us!
I agree with you Ruby. I believe that it began with Twiggy. She was the poster child for the makings of anorexia, bulimia, and all other “eating disorders” that have come to the surface, since that cute but starved model made the front pages! Our lives and bodies, and thinking about what is “beautiful” has radically changed ever since and now we are considered FAT at size 12. It’s really sad that we are only considered “pretty” when we starve our bodies. It’s sick and unrealistic.

Marily Monroe wore a size 14. No one ever referred to her as a plus size woman. I think the sizing standard has changed over the years.

I’d be a couple of full size women. And yes, men have picked up things for even me. Might be my age?
