Joy, thank you for your warmhearted letter. I certainly will keep you in my prayers, but until the insurance clears for you, and the prayers work, perhaps I can give you something to ask your doctor (s) about. I’ve been going through cortizone shots as well. Next step, is Synvisc I shot that lasts for six months for the most part, and/or if you’re lucky maybe you won’t need anything after that…I do, but right now financially due to everything going on in my house of needed repairs, the synvisc shot will have to be paid out of pocket and it costs over $400.00, at least here in Pennsylvania. But the good news is, you can claim all your medical off your income taxes. Also, four times a day I use “Volatren Gel” its a prescription that is approx. $16.00 but very helpful. I use that as well as Cortizone Gel as advertised on TV, but use little of that as it does burn, and makes you very hot. I’m not keen about that at all. Ice packs are helpful, the large ones from the pharmacy…they are blue in color, a little expensive but really give relief. I have two of them, and its soft blue plastic packs, my pharmacist got them for me. And last but not least go for aquatic therapy at the YMCA, ask for a coach, or ask your doctor to give you a paper that shows pictures of the exercises for your knees. Do this a few days a week for at least an hour…OMG such great relief in the warm aquatic water. I hope this helps you, as I’m suffering as well, and will need knee replacement, but until I can get this house back in order inside and outside it will have to wait. I will add you to my prayer list. Have a beautiful day, hope you feel better.

I know how you feel about the knee, Lola. Both of my knees have lost the cartilidge & its bone on bone. I had 3 cortizone shots in my left knee & one in my right knee, but the shots never lasted. So my 2 Drs decided I needed surgery. I was going to have a total knee replacement in my right knee on Apr’ 18th, which would have been today. But I got on a new insurance & they called the Drs. office & denied the surgery. The nurse told them how it was for me but they didn’t listen. They even sent me a letter telling me it was NOT medically necessary. So I sent a letter appealing it. I am waiting on that now. Both knees are in such pain, but the government DON’T care!!

Joy you’re so sweet for thinking of me and saying what you said. But I don’t think a day goes by, or, has gone by that I’m not shedding some tears about all that is going on right now in my life. I’m so worried about how I’m going to pay for everything. I’m suing the contractors that did the initial work, and I do have the township, police, sewer department and better business bureau working for me. And they will be coming to court to testify. Which is suppose to be May 15th I believe. But I hate bills hanging over my head.

If any of you posters on here care, which you offer a little prayer for me. Like when alone with Jesus whisper my name to Him, until all these issues are resolved. It’s 12:58 a.m., and I can’t sleep because, trying to just get the paperwork done for 3 1/2 hrs (just to get it started) sitting too long affected my pinched nerve in my sciatica in my lower back, and the torn ligament in the cartlidge of my left knee. I could barely get up from the table and chair. So I’m closing here now, because I took some heavy pain killers, laid on heat packs, and used ice, and am praying that I can get some rest. But until the medicine kicks in, I won’t/can’t sleep. Gotta go. But thank you Joy for writing it means a lot.

Ruby, as the new contractor from the township was doing some little work on my new deck, I saw another carpenter ant. I had a bit of a panic attack and he told me, ‘You’ll always have carpenter ants, they fall out of the trees all the time.’ Wish I knew that before I bought the house. I have so many trees around my home (got rid of 15 of them throughout the years,) and yet still ran into these problems. Please keep that thought in mind when you decide to move. Good luck

Ruby, I just learned recently because my house, deck, etc., were destroyed through a sewer backup…long story short, termites and carpenter ants are caused by dampness in the walls, wood, etc. Moisture creates these creatures to appear. Didn’t know that until my entire deck and roof were removed recently. Crap, I had so many carpenter ants and termites it nearly destroyed my entire house. Moisture needs to come out of the walls. Now my powder room walls need to be replaced because an electrician that put a faulty heater, vent, light in my ceiling caused moisture in my walls. Be careful who you hire. Go through the Better Business Bureau and your township to get good recommendations for contractors. Good luck, my house is torn apart right now and I’m distressed. Can’t find anything.

Yes, I have learned more about termites in the past two weeks than I ever wanted to know. We are attempting to locate and remedy the source of the moisture so they don’t just go somewhere else. I also learned that fireants are the natural predator of termites. And here I thought I was doing a good thing by killing the little biters. Hope you get your house put back together soon. I don’t like the disarray!!
